4th Regular Checkup on Week 13

Today is “Reports” day :)

I received… hmm…1,2,3,4, four reports today, just like a student received the school result after the exam :P
I got A+ for 3 reports and an B- for 1 report… hehehe….a satisfactory result :)

1st Report: Fetal Assessment -Nuchal Translucency Scan
The scan was carried out on my week 12. It is to detect Down’s syndrome by measuring an area of fluid at the back of the baby’s neck. This measurement, when combined with other factors (the mother’s age and blood test result) has a detection rate of around 90%.

Result: A+
Estimated risk for Trisomy 21 is 1:12066
Estimated risk for Trisomy 13/18 is 1:22401

haha… I don’t know the difference between Trisomy 21 and Trisomy 13/18. In summary, the risk of having Down’s syndrome is very very low. Means, my baby is fine :)

2nd Report: Antibody Screen
Result: A+
-No significant allo-antibody to common red cell antigens demonstrated in serum

haha… don’t really understand this :P

3rd Report: Blood Test
List of tests include Hepatities B, HIV, Rubella, Haematology, etc.
Haematology is a list of blood cell check, eg: white/red blood count, platelets, etc.

Result: A+
-All result looks good and within the reference range.

-Rubella antibody is 28 with reference range of > 10. It is fine for this stage but Gynae reminded me for the Rubella antibody check before the next pregnancy to ensure it is still within the reference range. Rubella is believed can cause child’s abnormality, so need to be careful.

4th Report: Vagina Check
Check for the existence of any harmful bacterias in vagina, as it may be dangerous to the child during delivery.

Result: B-
No pathogens isolated.

Heavy growth of Candida species isolated. Gynae said it is a harmless virus, it will just causes heavy and smelly discharge. I had taken the medician given by Gynae and it seems effective :)

————————————————–
I had done another Urine test during the checkup. Gynae said my worsen morning sickness and the increase of toilet visit may be due to Urine Infection. While waiting for the Urine test result which will only be out after few days, Gynae gave me a dosage of medician. I have taken it too :)

I had also asked for Calsium supplement from the Gynae as I seldom drink milk. Nurse said Calsium may cause constipation and asked me to eat more fruits. Hmm… means I have to eat 3 pills daily, Obimin/DHA/Calsium. Wah….I hate pills but…. hmm.. little sacrification that mom have to do for baby’s health :)

Still having morning sickness on Week 12 :(

Today is the day 4th of week 12. Too bad, I am still having bad morning sickness.

I pray hard to be fully recovered on week 12 but my condition seems getting worse since week 11. On week 11, my condition was as bad as week 5/6 where I felt like vomitting for whole day and vomitted for ~ 3 times daily. My body was very weak. It recovered after 4 days, okay for another 4 days then it came back again. Today is the 3rd cycle of “4 days”. Hope I will be feeling okay tomorrow and hope my morning sickness will end soon.

Sigh.. my 1st trimester really gives me a lot of hard times. I spent a lot of time laying on beds and sleep, sleep and sleep. Not too sure is it I sleep too much that make my condition worse. I did out for short walk, just feel no energy to walk after very short distance.

I had my first cry since my pregnancy on few days ago. Cried over a very small matter which I don’t think I should cried. My tears just out of my control. The first thing appeared in my mind is “Is it why people saying pregnancy woman is more emotional”, “Is it really related to my pregnancy?” I try not to blame everything to my pregnancy, as I think it will make me mentally and physically weaker, and Hup will get all the hard times.

Sometimes I feel that I am so weak probably because my body is “manja” as Hup is always around me and serve me as best as he could. Will I be stronger if he is not besides me? Haha… I don’t know :P

I pray hard that my morning sickness is go away SOONNNNNNNNNNNNN……. !!!!

Change of Gynae :)

I visited the 1st Gynae (Dr Ang) for 2 times. Felt that the Gynae is too busy, only allocate ~5mins per each person and usually he just spend 2 to 3 mins. Speak extremely fast and don’t really concern about our conditions. What he do is explain about the package/tests that I need to do and do ultra-sound scan with very brief explanation. The small clinic is so crowded with pregnancy womens and I was waiting for ~1hr even I had made the appointment. This really worries me and Hup :(

We decided to change the Gynae, recommended by my boss. Wow… this new Gynae is extremely good and we like her very much. She is Doc YY Tan :)

During the 1st visit with Dr Tan, few things that she did.
- Checked our background, see any of our family members have genetic sickness.

- Breast checking for any abnormality. She also taught me how to check :)

- Vagina check for bacterias. She said these bacterias is okay to exist in our vagina, but could be dangerous to the baby during birth. She checked and said there are bacterias in my vagina, she needs to send to lab for analysis and see if i need to take antibiotic. It is normal and ask me not to worry :)

- Blood test, see if I am a carrier of hepatitis B, or any others carrier that I may not aware of. Special treatment may be needed if there is any complications.

- Advise me to take additional supplement besides the Folic Acid. See below.
 a) EPAX Forte Softgel
-Formulated with higher level of Omega-3 DHA/EPA with ratio of 7.6:1 which reduces the risk of preterm delivery.
-Contain Essential Fatty Acids (EFA), the most important Fatty Acids for the development of the fetus/baby’s brain and retina.

b) Obimin
- Specially formulated for pregnant woman, with high dosage of Vitamin A to D, Calsium, Folic Acid, Iodin and etc.

She is very detail, friendly and patient in explaining and providing me a lot of information that I should aware of. Besides the doctor, the nurse there also very friendly with smiling faces for most of the time. They makes me feel so comfortable :)

Hup & I feel so glad to have a such a good Gynae :) I have to thank my boss for his good recommendation !!!

My baby is dancing !!

It was an excited moment :)

We saw the little one keep moving her hands, legs and shaking her buttock :P…. We are so happy as she is so active. Gynae explained through the ultra-sound scan “This is her little head, her hands, legs and body. See her heart beating? See…she just wake up and is waving to us and kicking !!”

The little one is measured ~3.44cm. Can you imagine such a little one is having full human like body structure, moving and kicking like little baby? It is hard for me to believe that she is just a ~8 weeks old baby !! haha…

2nd ultra-sound scan, on Week 10 of Pregnancy

Today steps into the 2nd day of week 10 of pregnancy. Me, as usual, still vomit in the morning, still choocy in food, still feel very tired and sleepy. My appetite is okay and I love fruits like mango, apple, guava and longan. I can feel that my tummy is getting bigger :) My weight now is ~52kg, which is ~1kg weight gain after pregnant.

The photo was taken during week 9 of pregnancy. Is my tummy big? hehe..

Hmm… 2 more weeks to go before I can get rid of the morning sick :) …. hehe… I have planned to fly back to SP on week 12 and probably will go to Cameron Highland on Week 14, to give myself a good break after 12 weeks of tiredness caused by morning sick !!! :)
