Making of Durian Dessert
Both Hup and I LOVE DURIAN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now is Durian season and everyone start talking about Durian, Durian, Durian
Hahaha…. sure Hup and I won’t miss the opportunity to have durian feast with cheap price. Actually in Sgp, you will see people selling durian throughout the year, but the price will be much cheaper during durian hot season.
A ”calculative” people like Hup and I sure won’t buy the durian at Sgp… Hehe… we went to Johor last weekend for durian, with ONLY RM4 per Kg for good quality durian !!!!! We bought 3 big durians + 1 free smaller durian with only RM40. Wow….really worth it
Well, Hup had a special request while travelling back from Johor. He missed the “Durian Rice” that his mom always made. He straightaway called his mom for the recipes
I never try the “Durian Rice”… but I had the Thai Durian Dessert before which make from Glutinuous rice + Durian. Hmm… should be almost the same, my wild guess. So, I just gave it a try
Here is the recipe given by his mom… really simple
Preparation of Glutinous Rice:
- Dip the glutinous rice in water overnight (or at least 5hrs)
- Steam the glutinuous rice till soft, then pour in coconut milk+salt. Stir it and steam it again.
- Ready to serve once the taste mix well.
*Optional: you can add in “pandan leave” into the glutinous rice for better taste.
Preparation of Durian Paste:
- Use ~5pcs of durian, remove seed.
- Mix well with coconut milk.
- Boil it and add some sugar and salt.
- Ready to serve.
*I used 1 coconut for both glutinuous rice and durian paste.
Simple? Hehe…. it is
Hup loves the “Durian Rice” but some people may not use to this way of eating. What about you?
