My Life

She always hold her fingers tight and put her both hands on her chest when she is taking bath. Probably this will make her feel secure. Hehe… guess she don’t really enjoy the bath as her face is always so serious when taking the bath

My little girl girl is 2 months old now. She has gained about 1.7kg, from 3.15kg (at birth) to 4.85kg now. Hehe… she is really ‘tua pui’ bb lor….:P

Her new milestones in 2nd month: Interaction !!
- She starts to react to us when we talk and play with her (with condition that she is in right mood.. hehe). She likes to smile and talk (arr… err…..hu..) when she is happy. We just started to see this on few days back.

- She starts to imitate our face expression and action. Yesterday morning her papa played with her, opened his mouth widely and poked his tongue out for few times. To his surprise, the little girl followed… hehe…..

Her new experiences…
- Travelled to Malaysia with her new passport, 11hrs long journey in Papa’s car. Huh… luckily the little girl slept through the long journey and she seems like enjoying the journey…:P

- First time visiting Ah Gong, Ah Ma and Popo (my mom)’s house at Kedah, Malaysia.

- First time having hair cutting in barber shop. Hehe… she looks like little ‘boy-boy’ after the hair cut.

Mama and Papa: It is so tired….
Hmm….. ya…. mama and papa had number of sleepless nights taking care of this little girl. Huh… it was really so tiring. She had few nights with bad colic (we have to cuddle her for hours as the colic pain keep waking her up) and stomach ache caused by diarrhoe. After these incidents, guess she was confused with ‘nights’ and ‘days’, which resulted her to sleep through in the day time and refused to sleep in the nights.

She also had bad rashes on her face and was recovered after applied the medician. Haha.. we have visited the paediatrician for few times within a week.

Mama and Papa’s big achievement is - we have learnt the correct way to burp her with success rate of 100%. A big thanks to my 4th sister !!!!! This really helpful in reducing her spit up and colic.

Sometimes it is quite fun to observe my little girl’s face expression when she is sleeping. She cries, smiles, frown and makes her mouth into different funny shapes ….

Few days ago, to my big surprise, she laughed with loud sound ‘hehehe’ during her sleep. My mom told me that she had heard it for 2 times. Hahahaha… guess it is the new thing that she have just learnt by her own. She have also learnt to play with her tongue

She starts to have curiousity on things that moving around and will follow with her eyes. She can turn to you when you talk to her. But…. don’t expect her to smile at you when you play with her, as ‘interaction’ is still very new to her

Hahahaha…. yes, if counted by year, KaiRou is one year old now, born in 2008 and now is 2009 …..

I always have funny feeling when saw babies same age as KaiRou but is much bigger than KaiRou. I have neighbout’s son with 8 months old (considered same age as Kairou) climbing gate during our visit. Err… are they really same age? Hahaha… I always hardly believe it even I know it makes sense if counted by months.

Hup’s mom and sister said “Aiya, your baby ‘lose out’ as others same age babies already learnt a lot of things while my baby still like a plain paper”

Hup and I have different thought. We said “Wow…. our baby so lucky, only 1 month old ++ already considered as Year 1 now” ….. hahaha….

For babies that born on early months and later months, we may see a lot of differences during initial few years (in terms of body size, things that they have learnt), but eventually the differences will be slowly close up….:P

To me, it is the most difficult and stressful task after giving birth. Due to my tiredness after giving birth and additional bb’s stay in hospital, I just breastfed once per day for her first week. Yes, it badly affected the milk supply due to very low demand ((Supply = Demand))
 
Besides the low milk supply problem, another problem was how to have a proper latch on for feeding. It was difficult as both mama and bb were very new to this and still learning. Little bb sometimes get frustrated and mama have to be very patient and keep trying. My bb initially rejected breastfeeding as she has used to the bottle feed with quick milk flow. Life became so stressful…

After 2 weeks, I stopped breast feeding with the naive thought that frequent milk pumping (with electric pump) will increase the milk supply and will keep the supply continue, means, my bb will continue to get the breast milk. I realized that I was wrong few days later after I had some reading on how to increase the milk supply. In fact, the ONLY way to increase the milk supply is bb’s SUCKING !! … My goodness, I have to quickly continue the breastfeeding before my bb’s totally rejected it. I told Hup that be prepared for bb’s crying as I was going to trying hard on this.

I won’t say I am successful in breast feeding now as my milk supply still considered low….. but at least for now, my bb just have once or none formula feed daily, the rest with breast feed. I am still trying hard to increase my milk supply. Now I am taking supplement ‘Fenugreek’ which said will increase the milk supply, hope it works.

I am more relaxing now… just supply whatever I have. This is the best that mama can provide

Thanks my hubby for his continuous support in my breastfeeding effort. I am not fully succesful but I DID it !!!!…..

For those upcoming mama… don’t too worry about this. A friend of mine just gave birth a little girl and she has over-supply of breastmilk. So, it really depends on individual

KaiRou’s first month is on Dec 18th. Hmm…. we didn’t have much ceremony on her full moon, just cut her hair a little bit, cut her little nails and we all (my mom, confinement lady, me, Hup and KaiRou) went out for lunch for little celebration

We had also invited friends/relatives/neighbours to our house on Dec 20th for the full moon celebration. Little KaiRou slept through all the way in the living room regardless of how noisy it was. Haha…so good, so that Hup and I can focus on serving people… ….

Hehe…. yes, she is *o* …..  She likes to hold the milk bottle when she is drinking…guess this is the nature of all the babies

Of course she still don’t know how to hold it properly and she can just hold it for short while with fix position

“Mama… see… I am so clever. I know how to hold my milk bottle on my day 16th :P”

“o….. I am so full and zzzzzzzzzzzz……….”

Today is the 23rd day of my confinement…… and I had my first bath and hair wash !!!!

WOW !!!!!! I felt so good !!!!!

Errr….. yeah, you can imagine how oily and dirty my scalp was without washing for soooooo long. But, no choice lah, old people say washing hair (with wet scalp) will absorb the wind and will easily cause headache in future. So, I just listen lor  ^o^ … but I do wipe my body every 2 days (the water must mix with rice wine)

Others confinement rules are:
-must either wear shoes or socks
-no direct fan blow
-food control (can’t take egg, certain veges/fish/meat)
-all meals must have ginger, sesame oil and rice wine (to expel ‘wind’ from my body)
-no drinking of plain water. Instead, must drink warm/hot red date & longan tea

Hmm… luckily the hired confinement lady didn’t impose too many “unnecessary” confinement rules. All above are still acceptable for me. The only thing that hardly bearable is no hair wash and I always feel like my body is ‘burning’ but I still need to eat all the ‘heaty’ stuff that made me hot, hot, hot !!!

I do feel lucky that my mom and mother in law are not around during my confinement. Else, I am sure they will impose more rules for me. Phew !!!! …..

“Some said I got Mama’s nose and cheek, some said I look like Papa…. what do you think?”
